Privacy and cookies
Last updated 30 October 2026. Short version: we don't run accounts, analytics or our own cookies. The ads come from Google, which uses cookies, and in the UK, the EEA and Switzerland it asks for your consent first.
Who we are
bestofgithub.dev is an independent project based in Canada, and responsible for the data described here. Questions or requests: privacy@bestofgithub.dev.
What we collect
Nothing that identifies you. There are no accounts, sign-ups, analytics scripts or first-party cookies. Our server doesn't keep access logs of visitors' IP addresses. The repository data on the site is public information from the GitHub API.
Advertising and cookies
Ads are served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to show ads, limit how often you see them, measure their performance and, if you allow it, personalise them based on your visits to this and other sites. Google is an independent controller of that data; see how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
If you're in the UK, the EEA or Switzerland, Google's consent message (an IAB TCF-certified consent platform) asks before any of this happens. You can accept, reject, or choose per purpose and per partner. Without consent you may still see non-personalised or limited ads, which use cookies only where the law allows.
To change your choice at any time, use the “Cookie settings” link in the footer or beside the ad. Everywhere else, you can turn off personalised ads in Google's ad settings or at aboutads.info, and block or delete cookies in your browser.
Embedded content
README images load from the projects' own hosts and GitHub, which receive your IP address as for any image on the web.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under Canada's PIPEDA, the UK GDPR or the EU GDPR) you can ask for access to, correction or deletion of personal data, object to its use, and withdraw consent at any time. As we hold none, most requests go to Google, which you can reach through its privacy policy. You can also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, the UK Information Commissioner's Office or your local data protection authority.
Changes
If we add paid listings, analytics or anything else that handles personal data, this page will say so first.
